MOCHA PECAN COOKIES

Love this little "COOKIE" book I found in my late mother's recipe box.  It is dated 1970 and I love the price of 35 cents. This recipe is one of many in this book.

1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
3 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon instant coffee
1/4 cup water
1 cup pecan halves

Cream butter and vanilla.  Add both sugars gradually; cream until fluffy.  Sift flour, baking powder and instant coffee; add alternately with water; mix until blended.  Chill dough.  Roll only a portion of the dough at a time 1/4-in. thick on lightly floured surface. Cut with 2-in. fluted cutter.  Put on ungreased cookie sheet.  Press a pecan half on each cutout.  Bake at 350 degrees F. 12 to 15 min.  Makes 7 dozen.
